The new year and spring cleaning

Published by Angeleyes under Bleh~, Blogging

Happy New Year!

2008 ended and now we are in 2009, a year where I am in my 3rd cycle… go figure… ;)

I have not been doing a lot of posts the past 2 weeks (there a lot of back dated posts coming!!!!) as I was extremely exhausted from all the year end activities. If you are wondering why I have not been popping over to your blog(s) lately, that was because this slave here has been doing a little spring cleaning at home as well as on some of her blogs (if you noticed, I did some changes on this blog’s header and my cupcakes blog’s template).

From the spring cleaning session (I desperately needed an effective cleaner to clean away all those spammies!!!) I discovered a really good plugin which has finally ended my headache. I especially needed a powerful anti-spam software over at my cupcakes blog as I get almost 50 spams a day! (I just can’t comprehend why someone selling teen s** is keen on my cupcakes!!!) Though I have Askimet installed but it only ‘catches’ these spammies but they are still in my spam box which is ultra annoying! I have to go clear my spam box all the time and sometimes I am so sick of going through that I just click ‘delete all’ without checking if there are any genuine comments in there.

If any of you (those using own domain) who is also experiencing increased spamming in your comment box, do try download WP-SpamFree by Scott Allen. I have installed for almost a week now and to my surprise I get ZERO spam since then! This plugin can eliminate spams totally!

Anyway, I want to thank all of you who are so kind to pop over and made some comments… don’t worry, your comments came through and the plugin is smart enough to detect!

Darrius has been driving me up the wall these days and there’s no way I can concentrate on any thing. He’s just like a broken record… humming repeated words into my ears!!! I just can’t wait till the day where I can send him off to school!!!! (probably I’ll miss him then!)

Ushering in the New Year

I have missed out on the New Year eve party scene since the day I got married as my dear PiggyBeng is no longer interested in all these stuff (do men turned antisocial after marriage?). Then came Darrius into our life which made it a little difficult to go out beyond 11pm (since the other big baby needs to sleep by 10pm!).

However, I managed to make an exception this time. Initially we planned to go KL but after a lot of this and that, we decided to scrap the plan. Since we are expecting my cousin’s visit to Penang so we just stay put and not go anywhere.

Then I received an invitation by my hosting company to their office opening ceremony which they have picked new year eve for the occasion. Without thinking much, I made reservation for both PiggyBeng and myself. PiggyBeng was quite reluctant to go but after much persuasion, he finally gave in… after all we have nothing to do mah!

So, I packed the two bosses for afternoon nap so they will be all charged up. We heard that they will be firework display at QBM and thought we might pop by after the opening ceremony which we were lucky we did not go at the end as the venue for the New Year eve party is extremely strategic… on the 10th floor of SUNTECH, the new cybercity of Penang.

When we arrived, we were given the program cards came together with lucky draw nos. We did not expect that at all… so it was a motivation to stay on till the end… hehehe Then we were seated at the Garden Cafe area where they have set up tables for all the guests. There was a buffet spread outside which has great view of the whole Bayan Baru area. The food was catered from Bamboo which we have been having 3 times in a month!!! (I started to wonder if Penang only has one caterer??!!!)

Still as messy

Published by Angeleyes under Kerja Sampingan, PJT-A

I have been going to this particular baking supplies shop near my place since I started baking two years ago. They are quite well stocked as compared to another shop near by and cheaper too. However, they are still very messy in terms of their inventory.

One day while there were not that many customers, I asked the lady boss why she did not fully computerized her inventory and she told me she is too busy and lazy to do so she just live with the current mess. Her business is quite good but I find it too troublesome to have to scan some products and hand write some which is not very productive. Since she is already using barcode scanners, she might as well get all her inventory coded so she can do less work.

Hopefully she can employ someone or outsource the task so that she can be more efficient!

Sunshine Mall opening soon!

For those who are residing in Penang will have another new ‘outlet’ to ‘invest’ their money by mid of this month when the new Sunshine Mall opens it door to the public. The new mall is located just a stone throw away from the current Sunshine Farlim hypermarket in Air Itam.

We went to Sunshine Far Lim a week ago and discovered they have dismantled some of the store’s fixtures and is ready to move to the new building which is still under construction. We gathered they will open for business at least one week before Chinese New Year as Sunshine’s crowd are mainly made up of Chinese customers.

According to a relative who is in the construction business, they will convert the current hypermarket building into a bus station. We even saw some empty units outside of the hypermarket has been turned into food outlets.

I guess they will move most of the fixtures but will leave the light fixtures intact as the bus station can continue ultiling them when the converstion is done.

He corrected me!

Published by Angeleyes under Milestone, Alamak!, Juz Darrius

When you have too much on your mind you tend to forget even the simplest word… sometimes…

Two days ago, while I was fixing Darrius’s milk, he came to me wearing my slippers which I have just taken out to wear so I can keep my feet dry after applying the foot balm. In a haste, instead of telling him to put away my slippers, I said put back my shoes. Guess what did Darrius says?

.

Darrius: Mommy, it is not shoes, it is slippers…

Mommy: o_O *face red with embarrassment*

.

Kids… don’t they make the adults look dumb sometimes? *bleah~*

To keep or to dump?

Published by Angeleyes under Kerja Sampingan, PJT-A

In less than a month time it will be Chinese New Year and I believe many homes are doing their annual spring cleaning. We have been doing ours bit by bit this time instead of doing it within a day as that will be too stressful.

PiggyBeng has been know to be un-compassionate when it comes to old stuff though my mother in law loves to keep most of her and some of my sister in law’s junks. He used to be a tennis player representing his school during his high school days and he did not bet an eyelid when he decided to dump those old thropies he had brought home. Crazy right? Sometimes I do wonder if I should secretly keep them…

Unlike most of my uncles who had represented their schools and even state, they still keep their prized basketball trophies till today.

Bento Fun #60 - A Christmas Bento

Actually I don’t really have much time to create Bento the past few days as I was packed with cupcake orders since last week. I will get really exhausted every time I’m done with them so I will go to bed pretty early. In fact we have been buying a lot of take-aways these two weeks.

This was the only Bento I did on Sunday when we had BBQ pork ribs for lunch and instant noodles for dinner… :P I kept some extra vege so I could do this Bento for Darrius which I did in a jiffy….

Using broccoli as Christmas tree and some silver balls as bauble with a small carrot star. Below the broccoli are some cauliflowers acting as snow. There’s a Santa Clause hiding next to the Christmas tree which was made using filament sticks and nori for eyes and mouth. Added some chicken cocktails on the side to fill up the empty space… hehehe There are some snow flakes too which were also made of filament stick sitting on a bed of dried soy sauce noodles mixed with some furikake.

The above Madagascar Bento box was a Birthday gift to Darrius from this sexy mommy

Darrius’s early Christmas pressie…

Published by Angeleyes under Juz Darrius

A BIG BUNGALOW!

I was trying to finish up my cupcake order today which I had to delay by 2 hours as I can’t finished them by 5pm. Darrius as usual, notti and cheeky. PiggyBeng came back around 4.30pm so I rushed to cook dinner and was done by 5pm. Since I need to continue with my cupcakes, I asked PiggyBeng to help me feed Darrius (can’t let the boy feed himself too often as he will play with his food now).

PiggyBeng as usual will be stuck on the PC doing his file transfer while Darrius run around while being fed by his daddy. At about 6.25pm, I heard a loud thud… silence… both PiggyBeng and myself fearing the worst… and WUUUUHHHHHAAAAWUUUUUHHAAAA!!!!

We both ran out and saw Darrius lying on the floor and crying very loud so PiggyBeng quickly pick him up and ask him where did he knocked his head but that boy was screaming away and won’t answer us.

I tried to feel his head but there was nothing so I took him over from PiggyBeng and cuddle him. Then I tried asking him again if he feels any pain on his head but he won’t stop crying and ignored my question. I continue to search for ‘that spot’ and finally I found… on the left side on the back of his head a HUGE BUNGALOW as big as a ping-pong ball!

I can see blood spots/dots (hair follicles) on the skin but he was not bleeding so I quickly get ice pack and rub on that bump. He won’t let me so we have to bribe him with food… again…

*sigh*

My customer came early so I have to quickly finish up before I have the chance to check on Darrius. PiggyBeng continue to put the ice-pack for me and after a while the bump don’t look so sore anymore…

Hope it is nothing serious… I’m really paranoid about knocks these days after what happened to my cousin’s girlfriend

Lil’ Mr. Selfish

Published by Angeleyes under Juz Darrius

Sometimes I wonder where could a little kid learns all the negative things?

Last night, after a tiring day, my feet were sore since I don’t have much time to apply cream. Then before bed time, while I was preparing Darrius, I noticed both his big toes has some rough skin so I decided to apply some of my foot balm on them. After I’m done with him, I told him to lie down and wait for it to dries up and before applying on mine. And guess what he said when he saw me? (I was using a sample pack so it is very small)

.

Darrius: Mommy, what are you doing?

Me: Applying the cream lor.

Darrius: Later mommy finish then cannot put for Darrius lor?

Me: Huh? o_O

.

Can you decode that?

What he meant was, if I am applying the cream too (since it is a small packet) then I’ll finished it soon so I won’t have enough for him next time!

How he learned to be so selfish huh???
