I was so careless

Published by Angeleyes under Money Matters

I got a scolding from PiggyBeng last weekend for not managing my finances properly. I know it was entirely my fault as I have been busy with other stuff and did not really bothered with my accounts. For that I was charged interest for not making my credit card bill on time. Actually I have made instruction with the bank to auto deduct from my saving account for all my bills since thy are from the same bank but I withdraw all the cash before the the payment went through. At the end it did not get to deduct so it was treated as late.

So, I get cash advance from PiggyBeng (he’s my boss and my private bank) to top up my account so I will not be charged for late payment again. He reminded me for not being so careless again!

Happy Mother’s Day!

Published by Angeleyes under Celebration

Specially to my mom…

.

Thank you, Mom, for making us
Happy, well, and good.
All we are depends on you:
Not what you say, but what you do.
Kids know what they should,
Yet need your hands for shaping us,
Opening and waking us,
Unveiling our view.

Over worked brain

Published by Angeleyes under Kerja Sampingan, PJT-A

My PC do not need any memory upgrade at the moment but I think my brain is! I have been a scatted brain the past few days and has been forgetting about things one after another. I know I am extremely tired with so much to do and with a monkey to deal with from morning to night.

I’ve been getting some cupcakes orders and since most of them are kind of last minute thing, I have been cracking my brain to come out with decorating ideas. It’s not easy to make a few bucks leh! Like earlier, I was so tired that I fell asleep while waiting for the laundry to be ready. Looking forward for more rest after I completed my last order…

Better vision

Published by Angeleyes under Kerja Sampingan, PJT-A

I used to put on contact lenses but when I was pregnant with Darrius I tends to have nausea so I stopped putting them on and wore my spectacles instead. Now that I do not have nausea, I felt like getting some new contact lenses again… well for vanity sake.

Then an old friend was telling me she just got her vision fixed with Lasik. I have heard about it quite a while back but do not have the guts to go for that treatment. My friend told me it was actually painless and it was quite a fast one too… just that have to part with quite a huge sum of money.

Well, probably I will consider using this treatment to have back my near perfect vision when I saved enough cash!

We upgraded our TV… at last

Published by Angeleyes under Kerja Sampingan, PJT-A, Blogging

A couple of weeks back we finally bought our Flat screen LCD TV after much consideration.  We have been shopping around for over a week and finally decided to get a Korean made model… as the price, size and model meets our budget.

Initially I thought of getting a tv wall mount to save some space on the table but PiggyBeng decided against it. Therefore, it is sitting on the same place as our old TV but there are still ample space since the LCD TV do not take a lot of space.

Flowers to grace your wedding

Published by Angeleyes under Kerja Sampingan, PJT-G

I know there are many people who will be tying the knot this year as it is supposed to be an auspicious year to most Chinese. In fact an old university mate just had her wedding a month ago. She was an ex-beauty queen from Singapore. Though I did not really know her that well but she is on my Facebook.

She had a church wedding and some of her wedding stuff are sponsored since she is doing some modeling jobs. I’m not sure if her wedding flowers were sponsored too but I saw some of the photos which she uploaded onto the net, they looked great.

Well, if you are going to get married this year, do consider getting some really fresh and beautiful flowers to grace your wedding as it will definitely be a lasting memory.

You got to pay to park in Tesco Penang now

Published by Angeleyes under Blogging

I went to Tesco this morning and found out that their parking system is already in operation. Previously we can park for free and later on we are only allowed to park for a maximum of 4 hours and now we have to pay. Unless we purchase something from Tesco, then we can park for free.

Guess this is one of the way to control other people who are not a customer of Tesco to use up all the available parking lot.  Normally the carpark will be quite full when it reaches lunch time but today it was rather empty. Good and bad I guess.

When we were in KL during our previous trip, we parked at the Tesco at the Curve and was shocked that we need to pay RM6 for 3 hours! What we did was quickly went up to Tesco and made some purchases.

So, there will be no more free thrill sessions for Darrius riding on those kiddy rides in Tesco unless we have something to buy.

Dying young…

Published by Angeleyes under Family

It was a pretty normal day for me with Darrius driving me up the wall as usual. Never have I imagine that somewhere out there another young life is taken away…

I received another devastating news a while ago when I called up my aunt in Perth…. what an irony… of all day I am calling her today. She was sobbing and I asked her what happened? After our chat I called my dad. My dad did not break the news to me as he thought he will tell me later on. My eldest cousin brother (my dad’s eldest sister’s only son) was hit by stroke this morning while he was at work. When he was sent to the hospital he was pronounced dead.

He was soooo young! If I’m not mistaken he is about 8 years my senior. He has a hard life and I really pity his mom for having to accept such fate. He was so dearest to his mom as he is the only son in the family with four sisters. Could you imagine how hard it hit my aunt for losing her only son? And Mother’s Day is this weekend. *sob*

Life is certainly very unpredictable and I am sad that this year there are so many devastating news….

Study: Breastfeeding makes kids smarter

I love to read such articles:

.

MONTREAL, CANADA - MOTHERS who breastfeed their children can expect them to grow up smarter than their formula-fed peers, say Canadian researchers in the largest ever study of lactation, released on Monday.

The study published in this month’s issue of Archives of General Psychiatry found that breastfeeding raises a child’s IQ and improves his or her academic performance.

‘Our study provides the strongest evidence to date that prolonged and exclusive breastfeeding makes kids smarter,’ said lead investigator Michaelo Kramer, of McGill University in Montreal.

His team followed 13,889 infants born between June 1996 and December 1997 at 31 Belarussian maternity hospitals and clinics for 6.5 years.Half of the mothers were encouraged to breastfeed exclusively and for a prolonged period, while the other half were not.

The children’s cognitive abilities were later assessed using IQ tests and based on their early grades at school.

On average, the breastfed group scored better in all tests, and ’significantly higher’ in both reading and writing.

Mr Kramer said, however, that it is still unclear if the cognitive benefits of breastfeeding are due to the makeup of breast milk itself or the social and physical interactions between mother and child inherent in breastfeeding.

In the study, he suggests that the higher frequency and duration of breastfeeding compared to bottle-feeding results in increased verbal interaction between mother and child, which ‘might also have a stimulatory effect on cognitive development.’

Other studies, he also points out, have shown that a mother rat’s grooming and licking of its pups has long-term behavioural effects on its offspring. — AFP

Found this article from AsiaOne site.

So, for those who are not breastfeeding their babies, please do so and for those who will be delivering soon, do go and equip yourself with all the knowledge. I can assured you that you will not regret it!
